Rs 5141 crore disbursed in accounts of 9.43 lakh farmers under Maharashtra loan renunciation
Banks have deposited Rs. 5,141 crore directly in bank accounts of 9.43 lakh farmers under the loan renunciation scheme of govt of Maharashtra, Revenue minister Chandrakant Patil said on Tuesday. He added that, the govt has so far given a list of 17.68 lakh farmers and has transferred Rs. 10,332 crore to banks and the disbursement of this loan amount will become more rapid in coming days. Total 9.43 farmers who are eligible for loan write-off under the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana (CSMSSY) so far. Chandrakant Patil while commenting on a farmer agitation headed by BJP leader Yashwant Sinha in Akola, said “Latter should apprehend that govt has already initiated implementation of the loan waiver scheme.” Patil said that, in the next 10 days the govt sees to clear one more list of 40-48 lakh eligible farmers. Due verification would be performed while waiving off the loan, he added.
He also said that the government will pay compensation to the farmers who have availed crop insurance and also will make provision for bailing out those who have not opted for insurance.
